A patio which is ready for the summer ahead

Get Your Patio Ready For The Summer Ahead

Whether you use it to entertain, or to get some peace and quiet, your patio is your space to enjoy and relax in. Now the Summer Holidays are upon us which means it’s the perfect time to make your outside space just how you want it to enjoy over the summer months.

With the Summer Holidays beginning, now is the perfect time to look at creating an outdoor area that is perfect for enjoying the beautiful summer sun in the UK.

There are many different things to consider when upgrading your patio area, such as design, size and layout. Here are the main factors that can improve your outdoor space to better enjoy the good weather:

Design a space for entertaining

A British summer isn’t summer without a few barbecues – and with that in mind, it is a good idea to take this into account when designing your patio space. Create a practical and big dedicated area where you can house a barbecue and seating area that won’t interfere with any grass, trees or foliage.

Ensure you’re family friendly

Ensuring your patio area is family friendly is always a good idea, even if you don’t have young children yourself, you may have family members who do. Making sure that all surfaces are even and run smoothly into each other is a great way to to prevent tripping hazards and ensure children can play safely outside. This may involve patio maintenance and repair rather than a brand new design and installation.

More advice we would offer to customers who are looking to make their patio area family inclusive, is to create shaded areas that allow children to stay outside but to keep cool. This could include adding trees that create shade or add umbrellas to ensure they can keep out of the sun.

Consider a new pathway

We can also integrate pathways in your design, to give a natural flow from the outside of your home to interior. Pathways can be used to bring cohesion between one space and another, as well as serving as a practical walkway. They also ensure that grass and plants don’t get ruined from being trampled on, and in general, help you make the most of the space you have.

Invest in garden furniture

Furniture is a great way to finish off your patio area. Make sure you pick something that fits the space perfectly and isn’t too big or garish, as it may result in ruining the aesthetics of the space.

If you’re interested in entertaining, then get a comfortable seating area that can be situated near the barbecue, as this allows everyone to get involved – even the chef!

Undertake regular cleaning

Once you have had your lovely patio and garden redesigned, keep it looking fresh all year round by cleaning at regular intervals. This can just be done with a quick hose or jet wash to ensure it is always looking its best.

You can also buy more specialised patio cleaning detergents that reduce the risk of mould and algae forming, which in turn reduces the risk of discolouration of your patio slabs or tiles.
