We love a good driveway transformation, and our team had a great time on this project, installing this beautiful new gravel driveway in Horsham.
In September, the SGS team undertook the challenge at Rookwood Park. The existing tarmac driveway of this beautiful home was in reasonable condition, but the owners were ready for a change and something a little more pleasant on the eye!
Our first step was to meticulously clear and clean the old asphalt surface. We then set to work laying in new Granite Setts across the entrance, to create a smart finish to the gateway. The drive here already had paved edging that was in great condition, however, we would have usually also laid this down at this stage. Whatever you choose for your gravel driveway, this is an important step – not just because they look great – but because the stone paved edges help to keep the gravel in place, ensuring a tidy driveway and garden that calls for less maintenance.
Our final step was to resurface the entire area with fresh gravel. Our client chose this beautiful 6mm natural gravel, which we think looks fantastic!
We’re really pleased with this project, having left this home looking greater than ever with a functional, low-maintenance driveway ready to be used. But besides being aesthetically pleasing, here are a few reasons to choose a gravel drive:
- Cost-effective
- Long-lasting
- Great drainage
- Quick to install
- Minimal maintenance
