SGS Surfacing partnered with White Oaks Developments to complete a large-scale roadway resurfacing project in Dial Post, Horsham. Despite challenging winter conditions, our team successfully delivered a durable and smooth surface across an 800 m² area using advanced hand-laying techniques and premium asphalt materials.
Scope of Work: Hand-laid and compacted 400 m² of AC20 open course asphalt at a depth of 80 mm using a 120 roller for optimal compaction and durability. Hand-laid and compacted 200 m² of AC20 close course asphalt at a depth of 80 mm to provide a smooth, robust finish.
Challenges and Solutions: Working during the winter months presented challenges such as low temperatures and unpredictable weather conditions. To mitigate these factors, our team implemented precise scheduling and used specialized asphalt mixes that perform well in colder environments.
Additionally, the hand-laying process required meticulous attention to detail to ensure proper compaction and even surfacing across the expansive area.
