SGS Surfacing was commissioned to carry out a comprehensive resurfacing project at Arundel C of E Primary School. The project involved the excavation and restoration of approximately 1370 m² of playground space, including areas affected by tree roots and ageing concrete. Our goal was to deliver a smooth, safe, and durable surface in time for the new school term. Despite challenges with root intrusion and a tight summer schedule, our team efficiently delivered a high-quality, long-lasting surface in time for the new school term.
Project Overview: The playground at Arundel C of E Primary School required significant structural improvements to ensure the safety and usability of the space for students. The project included:
Challenges and Solutions: The primary challenge was managing the extensive tree root intrusion, which compromised the existing surface. To address this, we carefully removed three problematic trees and excavated the affected areas. Our team also worked efficiently under a tight summer schedule to complete the project before the new academic year.
By utilising a combination of advanced materials and precise laying techniques, we delivered a robust and even surface suitable for heavy foot traffic and outdoor play.
