Our SGS Surfacing team recently completed a specialist resurfacing project in Battersea, London, working in partnership with KA Construction Ltd. The project focused on delivering a smooth, durable finish while managing detailed reinstatement works, showcasing our expertise in precision surfacing.

Scope of Works

The works included careful excavation, kerb reinstatement, and surfacing, covering both functional and aesthetic requirements:

Excavation of 70 m² to prepare the area for reinstatement with a new base
13 metres of granite kerbs lifted and re-laid on full concrete beds to ensure long-term stability
Relocation of an existing bike rack, improving site layout and functionality
Cutting back overlay areas as required
Application of K140 tack coat to ensure adhesion
Hand laying of:
– AC20 dense binder, 60 mm, to the 70 m² excavated area
– AC6 SMA, 40 mm, to areas totalling 142 m²

Challenges & Solutions

Precision reinstatement: Re-laying granite kerbs on full concrete beds required exacting standards to guarantee stability and alignment.
Site functionality: Relocating the bike rack improved traffic flow and usability without compromising safety.
Surface quality: The combination of AC20 dense binder and AC6 SMA ensured a durable, smooth finish suitable for high-use areas.
